Before our visit to the ruins of Machu Picchu, we spent the
night in the small town of Machu Picchu. We arrived by train from Ollantaytambo to the Machu Picchu train station in the town of
Machu Picchu. The town is located in the valley beside the ruins of Machu
Picchu, and is surrounded by breathtaking, lush mountains and lies alongside
the beautiful Urubamba River. The view from the train station was amazing. Although
the town is very tourist-y due to its location near the ruins of Machu Picchu,
I thought it had its own charm and a very different feel from the other small
Peruvian towns we've visited.
