Los tipos de comida en Peru

The food of Peru: Japanese, Italian, Mexican, American---the list goes on. Throughout my time in Cusco (so far), I have noticed an assortment of different cuisines. I have the ability to walk across the street and find pizza with udon noodles on the next. Here are my experiences and past food orders at select restaurants.

La Boh'm: Crepes! This restaurant was very cozy and we sat in a living room like area. I ordered a ham and cheese crepe with egg, a salad, a lemonade, and a sweet crepe. I especially liked the lemonade and was excited to find out that lemonade in Peru is typically made with limes! It was infused with mint and quite possibly the best lemonade I have ever had.

Tacomania: This place had SPICY food. I ordered vegetarian nachos and asked for the spice level to be 2 on a scale of 1-3; however, I made a grave mistake. Corinne and I both had our mouths on fire the whole dinner, but I was glad I had someone to suffer with. I thought the food and drinks were a tad overpriced, but I appreciated how big the table was so we could fit everybody! Most restaurants are small and unable to accommodate large groups.

Red llama: I have been to this place two times now and got the club sandwich each time. The sandwich was layered with three pieces of bread and came with a side of chips. I noticed how much smaller the portion size of the chips was compared to the U.S. Although I thoroughly enjoyed the sandwich, it took too long to make.

Cicciolina: A very nice, upscale restaurant where I ordered an amazonian fish. The fish was cooked perfectly and I appreciated the dark lighting of the dining room. I also tried Jackie's octopus and LOVED it. I definitely want to go back there and try their tapas!

Even though all of these restaurants had different types of cuisine, I noticed how the portion sizes were pretty similar at all of them. The portions are much smaller in comparison to the U.S. and it is more common to order coffee after a meal or even late at night. Overall, Cusco feels like a melting pot to me and I am in love with trying all these new types of food!
